By bringing together an incredible diversity of nationalities and academic backgrounds, the summer school in comparative conflict studies serves as a platform for a dynamic exchange of ideas on global conflict and the Balkan region. The 2014 CFCCS Summer School experience in Belgrade went beyond my expectations. The courses were interesting, stimulating and well-thought-out. Often our class discussions would continue over coffee in some of Belgrade's coolest bars nearby the Faculty. As a historian interested in complex process of transition from communist regime to democracy in Central and Eastern Europe, and especially in the countries in former Yugoslavia, I found the course From Brotherhood and Unity to be very interesting, informative, and useful. Professor Blagojevic deserves a praise for skilfully leading the entire course, for the interesting topics and readers and thoughtful insights to the topic. I was pleasantly surprised with good organization of the school and the great atmosphere, thanks to the CFCCS team. This is a summer course which Belgrade deserves to have. This summer program was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and learn different processes that were related with transition in the former Yugoslavia. The course helped me think comparatively on different topics. Our time in class was very productive, we discussed the readings and exchanged ideas through students presentations. Debates were very powerful and successful. It was a very interesting experience to get to know different people from all over the world. We had a lot of fun. I learned some new perspectives on conflicts, current policies, and social problems. I also learned a lot about the importance of understanding complexity as an integral part of human life. I think these "international classrooms" provide excellent opportunities to meet new people and to have great discussions about challenging topics.
